Looks like we hijacked OP's thread, so I will now shut up.....
Sarcophyton elegans doesn't do well when fragged, they never have. Just buy complete corals and you'll be fine. The only way to get frags is from natural division/budding, otherwise, they have a really poor track record being fragged.
Also, these are shallow water species that look amazing under natural daylight.

I went to work and all the fun happened. Thanks for the responses. Someone PM’d me and offered a frag. He also said that they don’t look as good under blues and the color would morph unless under less blue light. I do run my tank a bit blue but could adjust. I have a couple of things that look better under whiter light like my Koji Wada Nepthea. But, the nems and zoas look better under blue so I’ll look for a balance.
I didn‘t know these were hard to keep. I’m not currently holding any SPS so maybe in a more “dirty” tank they will do better? It’s a nice pop of color in a predominantly softy tank.

If you tank is blue, I wouldnt bother with the Fiji Yellow (IMO). They will look bland.....

Mine looks like a desaturated tyree green leather under the blues. Very little color. Great under whites
Yeah, it's like having an Oregon blue tort under heavy blues, what's the point? I'm sure there's a whole generation of reefers who have never seen corals under true 6500k lighting. A lot of soft (and other) corals look amazing under "daylight".
I second that with other folks who say don’t bother with Fiji yellows if you run mostly blue lights.
You almost need like Metal Halides and 6500k lights most of the time. Otherwise they will get more green… either mustard green or a light mint green. Still not bad if you have other color shades and this helps provide variety.
Yellow Fijis aren’t technically hard. They need high par and high flow. Similar to SPS conditions. It’s the reason why they don’t ship well and thus rare in the hobby (but not in the wild).
We only have Fiji Yellows by sheer luck… (they had to be the last to be packaged from the farm and the first to be unpacked). They get infected easily when in stagnate water. And they will wither away when they’re not in high light.
Mine grows slow and hardly ever drops babies. Otherwise I’d offer a frag. But seems like you’re getting one soon. Good luck!

Frags were in the frag tank with decent flow (MP10 @ 90%) and high intensity (Radion G6 Blue @ 80% peak).

Bro....that frag's doubled in size already.....maintained its deeper yellow color. I think once I get it into its dedicated tank with eth 6500K lights, it should do wonders and color up to a brighter yellow......
Cool. Thanks I’ve gotten some softies from him. Most of the time with great results.
Did you have other leathers in your tank or run carbon? High levels of terpenes can stress a toadstool out.
Or if you took too long to move them into the target tank when you picked them up maybe?
