Are you able to or are running activated carbon?

You can put a gate valve onto some pvc piping that the tubing will lay over. Can be had at home depot. Also did you do a water change recently?

Or better yet do you have those adapters that allow you to adjust the flow of the pump? Maybe reducing the pumps flow will help you out.

Do you have extra tubing laying around? Maybe there is some kind of extra air being sucked somewhere between the pump to the skimmer body?

Well if you had it in the sump have you tried elevating it up higher from the water level?

Also try removing the microbubble catch from the outlet to relieve some back preassure. I know the micro bubbles will suck but once the skimmer breaks in you can put it back on. Not gonna lie I'm kinda jealous. Wished my super skimmer 65g made that kind of bubbles LOL!

Never mind just saw the video and you have it as HOB. Did you dose the tank or add anything? Looks like there is something in the water column making it go crazy. Try to pinch the airline tubing to restrict some air and see if it creates less bubbles. If so you try and add an airline intake...

I never found out 3 fishes died before it subsided.

Post a pic if you can would make it easier to diagnose. Sounds familiar to what some of my old fishes died from and that due to a fungal infection. It's like there slime coat disappeared and there skin looked rough like sand paper.
