    DIY: Macro Algae Reactor

That's actually my plan. I'm going to convert all my algae to Ogo or Sea Lettuce. I got a buddy that farms them in FL. He can ship me up to 15 lbs per box. PM me if anyone wants in. And No, you can't mix with Chaeto, they release some sort of toxin that kills off other macro algae. I've...

    Kessil's Monster Light

Kessil's Parent company does movie and theater LED lighting. A lot of recent film studios are integrating their products on the sets so its not surprising that they can easily crossover into public aquarium style lighting.

    DIY: Macro Algae Reactor

I want to put around 16 hours. Plant vegging is 14 or more hours. The longer the better. Chaeto is effective because its the quickest of the Marcos and doesn't do asexual. However, they are very aggressive and will kill neighboring Macros from my multiple experiences.

    Euroaquatics E5

I think that might be applied for the Chinese produced T5 then. Correction on my end, higher quality is 8-10 months. As for Par goes, I hung out with Euroquatics head US sales rep yesterday for about 30 mins, he did mention that a blue pop is coming with a 'clear' screen to have Par that is...

    DIY: Macro Algae Reactor

I am going to feed ALOT. The reactors will all be external and have a styrofoam barrier to keep light from entering the sump. LED has a dimmer on it. With 78 degree water on the inside constantly running and the strips dimmed to 30-50%, over heating shouldnt be an issue on a 16 hour photo period

    DIY: Macro Algae Reactor

The concept has been around for awhile, so its not an original idea of mine. But the pictures I saw of those who attempted it looks like they used the non-waterproof strips that easily slips and displaces. The waterproof is silicone and holds a grip when place on the face of the media reactor...

    DIY: Macro Algae Reactor

My DIY ended up on Reef Builders yesterday. I posted on FB initially about my DIY project and 6 hours later RB gave it some love. https://reefbuilders.com/2016/08/31/chaetomorpha-reactor/ Some of you might have seen this already, I'm just going more in-depth about the components I used...

    Euroaquatics E5

I just swapped out my ATI Blue Plus with 2 48" E5 Blues. Very Deep blue, I totally dig them, gives good pop. Got 'em with my ATI Coral Plus. Keeping my coral plus to ensure its getting full spectrum and optimal growth. So I thought about it. E5 is up to 45% less wattage says Reefbuilder via...

    Electricity Cost in the evening

    Soooo... from 10pm til 8 am @ $0.13 per Kilowatt (1000 watt) Running @ $0.13/1000 watt/hour for 10 hours = $1.30 x 30 days = $39

    Electricity Cost in the evening

I got Southern California Edison, thinking of pushing my photo period for my corals back to later on the evening for the supposed lower electrical tier pricing. Anyone know more about this? Elaborate on this?

Can I turn off return pump and skimmer at night?

Tunze is Sicce factory and I think Royal E. is in-house. You're right, 80% of the market is from China

Can I turn off return pump and skimmer at night?

Indirectly, it can cause slow calcium build up which can seize the impeller assembly resulting in catastrophic pump failure/meltdown. Bubble Magus just released their DSP pump line that has a built in rear chip which cuts off power to the pump whenever it runs dry, impeller seizes or pump over...

    Need source for custom glass

Most glass or window stores can get you that material on special order. Request the edges to be polish too. Otherwise, contact Crystal Dynamics, Advance Aqua Tanks, Fujimoto, or CAD since those are all the local glass tank builders.

    SWC 120 Skimmer Experience

Seems to be 2 version of pump. One with dual PSK2500 and the other a modified Laguna pump. If yours are a dual PSK2500, they are still available online. If you have a hard time finding those, I have a few at my warehouse. BM Curve 5 is our hottest seller. For a wine glass body skimmer with a...

    cycling skimmer or no skimmer?

Run the skimmer, even for aeration purposes only it'll at least increase O2 and optimize the cycling period.

    SWC 120 Skimmer Experience

When it comes to Cone skimmers, its all about the pump. From the info, I've seen of the SWC, its an Atman pump which is the same pump as the SCA. The SWC body is superior, but the performance is probably going to the same. Atman was the breakthrough econo skimmer pump 8-10 years ago. But they...
