So my chaeto seems to go through a death cycle ever month or so. Its being rotated around and trimmed, however every month or two, I have a large portion of it die off and after removing the dead portion, it seems to grow back. Is this normal or is something wrong with the water chemistry?

It seems most people here try to stick to one type of salt brand. Is it a bad idea to change salts on a frequent basis? I usually just buy whatevers on sale and use it til it runs out then off to the next sale. Sometimes its a different brand but I just figured salt is salt, and regular water...
