20 ppm RO/DI ok short term?

So.. my unit is now putting out 20ppm rodi since it was depleted when left on over night If I have no nuisance algae, is it safe to use ? Not sure if the corals will be affected or not... but seems the new filters only lasted like 4 months or so.. so wanna try and stretch it out till after RAP

Anything higher than 7 I would say will contribute to nuisance algae. It sounds like the DI is exhausted. Can you swing a new DI cartridge?

Think just the DI? I could swing it if I need to.. also the pack is 40 compared to 20 on the DI only.. so would just get the whole pack to save shipping Was just curious how bad it is , even though I have no algae issues really. Maybe because I run so much Chaeto in the sump. what a waste.. smh my kid ( 16) was supposed to turn it off and he got side tracked or something.. about spazzed this morning when I got outta bed

I have shut it down.. am hoping that maybe it's running high since it was going nonstop for so long..maybe it will be better after being off a bit? lol wishful thinking on my part huh?

When my DI cartridge runs out it went from 10ppm to 50ppm while filling up a 30 gallon trash can. just buy a DI cartridge to be safe.

Do you have a tds meter? That will tell you where the issue is. Check the tds going in. Then check the tds coming out of the membrane but before the di. Then check the tds after the di. The membrane should be removing the first 95-98% of the tds and then the DI should be polishing off the last bit. If your source is say 100 and after the membrane the tds is 5 and then after the di it is still 5 then all you need is the DI changed. If the tds coming out of the membrane is like 25 then its a membrane issue.

Thank u! Ok now I'm stumped! It's 297 from source .. Then RO ONlY is 7 .. Then 21 for rodi!! Can di cartridge actually foul water?

ok.. called air water and ice.. apparently DI CAN foul water if exhausted. Since I have 7 ro the filters are fine for now just the DI is bad ( thanks everyone! ) so, I ordered the whole pack, since it's only 20 bux more and will have the filters on standby when I need em.
