Looks and works awesome!! Are u going to build a canopy? That would look so sick to have a canopy that went up And Down with the lights mounted inside

I was actually thinking about building one before but I really like the open top look although the lifter can handle the weight since it can lift atleast 250lbs! Im still trying to think if its safe to spool the wire and if it has the space to house the wiring like you suggested before... Will see I only have a few weeks left for this build

Totally would be boss to do a canopy and light that would move up and down!

At OP the build is 1st class mate.
Thanks Im trying to make this build as clean as possible anyways like previously mentioned the canopy and light lift is definitely be a good idea but I like the open top look plus I live in a very hot area it will help with the gas exchange:)

Check out the 1000gallon tank build on Reefcentral. The guy is from Thailand and he has a top that moves up and down with a winch. It looks exactly like yours, its all built into the ceiling. He built a canopy and man that thing looks insane. You might want to go check out the build, it's from 2009 I think but it has to be the nicest fish tank ever.

I was actually looking at this tank a few months back but chingchai is completely in a different level lolz!
Also the motor can be installed inside the ceiling I just didtnt want my wife freaking out with a big hole in our ceiling lolz! The tank that inspired me for this lift is actually the tank called " The Reef in the Sky" since I was looking for ny future LED build Im just buying the parts and have toromp build it I've heard good things about him around this site:)

Ya Toromp is ok. If you want really nice lights you have to talk to Luis. He's a lot nicer than Toromp. Lol (it's the same guy)

I love my DIY LEDs. Same exact Setup Luis uses. I would def recommend the bridgelux. Unless u have the money then Crees are good to, just more expensive

Why do u prefer the Crees? Have u used the bridgelux LEDs? The only real difference is the Crees put out more lumens per watt (more efficient). The funny thing is most of the time when I see Cree setups people either don't use enough LEDs and the spread sucks, or they use too many and have to dimm the LEDs lower to prevent bleaching the corals. The price difference is pretty big and makes the bridgelux LEDs worth it, even if you have to add a few more. Just my opinion

I haven't seen anyone with a good build yet using the MC LEDs. I think the individual leds still might be better. I really dont see the benefit from the mc?

Same Here! But I think I will benefit with the MC since I have a wide tank adding a few lenses should do the trick ... Thats what I think atleast but yup will see , hows your growth so far with LED's?

PSHHH i love my LEDs, and growth is great so far. BUT i did just hook up my Ca Reactor and i personally think that has ALOT more to do with better growth than my lights. Having stable water parameters and clean water is what coral love. I really dont think coral (besides a select few) are that picky when it comes to lighting. I love to use Wetdreads tank as an example. Everyone is out spending thousands of dollars on gnarly light setups, and he is over there using a few hundred watt T5 setup and gets INSANE growth (im talking about a full SPS tank by the way). I think if people put half as much effort into their water quality and having stable parameters that dont fluctuate on a daily basis, their corals would be much happier. I know i was one of those guys. when i first got into the hobby i was crazy about lights...T5s, metal halides, leds, metal halides with T5s..etc etc...now im just loving LEDs because of the money they save me...i went from 860w MH/T5 setup to 270w Led light and i noticed on my very next edison bill. if ur scared of 100% led then do a hybrid t5/led setup, that seems to be the current craze on this site. No matter what u do, invest in a good doser or Ca reactor and ur tank will do great! i think thats the real secret to good coral growth

Cool I actually have my HO T5's for now whille the light is being built anyways I agree with the water parameters, I also have two calcium reactors on standby just incase I have a euro reef calcium reactor and a MRC CR2 dual chamber calcium reactor I was gonna sell them but I will juat keep them for now until O get this setup done and running.
