So I started my tank thread and realized that I better post a thread here documenting its progress (plus some of you don't use that 'other site' for various reasons)

So I happened to check Craigslist one day at lunch in December (I think) and found a sweet deal on a glass 240g. I've been wanting to swap out my 180g acrylic ( http://www.sdreefs.com/forums/showth...ghlight=summer ) for a glass box.

So I get on the horn, call the seller, then call the wife who says 'go ahead' call the seller back and say 'see you tonight'

Grab Kamil (my driver ) and head to the house to check it out before buying my Christmas present. Thing is worth every cent I paid, but it needs work.

Next step...get on SDReefs and NCRMAS and ask for help (the tank alone is 8'x2'x2') since I don't have anything that can move it. So Kamil, Rudy, Steve, John, and Josh give up their Saturday morning to help me move this beast from Vista to Oceanside.

We load the beast on Rudy's trailer with Rudy's furniture dollies and John's glass handles (which I think NCRMAS should invest in for helping members move large glass boxes cuz without them....I don't know how we could have moved this thing) The thing took all 6 of us supporting the weight to get it moved (it was a lot heavier than I thought it would be).

Yup....the canopy will become the face of the the new canopy I think...it was a fish only setup

Today I spent the morning drying out the wood with a halogen light (lots of moisture) and finishing up the sanding...tomorrow I should start on the paint and sealer

I also cleaned the sumps and cracked one (easily fixed with some spare acrylic and weldon)

You might want to brace up the back corner of the stand where the tanks corner is floating in the air. That can't be good.

it actually is braced just before the overflow box. The stand was professionally built by LeeMar I think (old tank and stand so not sure) but it is very stable and secure
