MH are true and proven and give the ultra violet light needed for coral growth and health.
Radions do not provide true U.V. only a purple light that is not in the light spectrum on U.V.

Radions do have pretty colors and do cool tricks, of coarse your coral or fish need none of those things, only pleases the human eye.

Well said!

If you plan to keep LPS, then Radion is the right equipment.

Well gotta draw a list of pros and cons for each one. MH works and so do Radions. MH is tried and true and probably easier to acclimate corals. Also, there's just a certain pop mh lights have. Radions grow coral but its an LED and some corals may not adjust too well to it especially maricultured frags that were held under T5 lighting. MH will most likely require a chiller and are known to run up the electricity bill during the summer. Also bulbs wear out and most reefers replace yearly. Radions will give you 50,000 hours of life before the leds start dimming.

That's the appeal I have for the LEDs, less heat, no chiller, and no bulb changing. What about mounting the radion inside the fixture so it's the radion and 4 T5's?

Seems like what the hot thing is now. You'll get full spectrum from t5s and the par from the leds.

In a perfect world where I'm filthy rich I would run MH. But I can't justify the extra expenditure monthly. I bought hydras and they are working great!
