So I wanted a bigger tank. Cause reefing is cool so I found one on CL and cleaned it up. Just got it up and running and here are some pics..

Here is how I picked it up.
It did come with a big sump, by my calculations it’s 37gallon

The tank is 24x36x24. I have no idea who makes it. It has a small center return with a whit tube thing that goes up and down to adjust water height. (Neat feature)

Ripped the stand apart cause it was ugly.
I cut it up and made this stand. I shortened the height. Added the drawer. Switched to two double doors. Then painted it with a couple coats of latex house paint.. looks pretty good to me.

I will take a better pic of the sump. For now it’s got a skimmer, older bubble magnus and a DC return pump all off of Offerup or CL. For now it a a kessil A360w tuna (again CL buy) it’s not enough light but it gets the ball rolling..

So this dude sold me about 150lbs of rock. A 4” maroon clown and a trigger fish for 50 bucks. There is a small colony of maybe 30 red mushrooms too. He threw in about a enough sand for a 1 inch bed. I rinsed the shit out of the sand with the hose. Rock looked ok not much life on it. Put the clown in a small quarantine tank just to see how he did on the bucket ride home. Trigger hid in a rock. He’s shifty… anyhow got it all running and dropped in the clown. And some rocks I had in another tank to get things rolling.
I measure the sewer everything was living in and phosphate and nitrates were in the unsafe color band. So this should be like living in a fresh mountain spring.

Added one of my custom built ATO reservoirs and ATO pump. It’s a nano JBJ I think. Too small for this tank but should help with water level while I am gone for 2 weeks. Have lights and a fuge light off CL to install. Thinking of running that plant stuff in the fuge but no idea which kind. I think I will need to add some baffles to the sump to make it work right.

Great start! What are your plans with the tank? Focus on the fish or do you want corals as well?

Love the stand changes! Sweet deal on the live rock as well. Instant tank, throw some more coral in there!
