Had the itch for some closeup shots of the corals tonight. Shot with Canon 70D with 100mm lens, handheld no tripod.

This has grown into a beautiful colony, but I don't know what kind of coral it is. Its Green with magenta polyps in the middle and then chalkish with the magenta polpys at the edge. Colony is about 6.5" across but only a couple of inches tall. If you recognize the coral please let me know what you think it might be.

Reefer6 --- Thank you! They aren't that colorful, I just have great photoshop skills :) Are we aloud to make jokes like that if we aren't trying to sell some overhyped nub of 3 polyps... LOL

Watchguy, Thank you.

LuisPerez - I was lucky enough to get the crazy Monti, on the terms that when I grew it out I gave half of it back to the original owner. I have had it for 6 months, and got it about 20% smaller than it is now. It grew great for the first 4 months. And I was able to cut it in half and keep my deal with the original owner. Since cutting it in half it has actually lost some color. Before the fragging it actually kind of looked like metallic pearl flake orange paint on the top and the polpys were more blue than green. Before the fragging it was growing up and outward like a plating. Since the cutting its growing over the base like an encrusting. I'm curious to see if I can get the ultra colors back out of it and see what shape it grows into.

JoseSerano - I have 3 or 4 dfiferent tricolor corals. Different shapes, different colorations (Tricolor just the tips vs tricolor the entire length of the branch) and growing in totally different structure shapes. I am sure there are tricolors from several different places out there. I think mine are mostly from Bali Maricultured pieces.
