you are COLD!!!!!!

I actually have a website designer, (although he is a bit slow himself)

Seems like no matter what I do, or who I select, ther eis always something.

At least this guy I got now, he contacts me once a week to tell me ... (he had something come up and it will be bit longer....)

And you would not believe me but....

I just got the webcam the other day, via ebay....

The guy I got it from,.... ANOTHER EFFING LOSER, (and another story)

It took more then three weeks to get here.

He claimed he sent it USPS two days prior to him responding to my several emails for tracking info.

Then after two weeks, I still did not get it, he explained that he could not send it out cause he works full time, but he had his wife send it....

Then a week later, I get a notice in the mail from FEDEX. They are trying to deliver something, but need more info... And since I was not expecting anythign from fed ex, and the shippers name was different then what I had bought anythign from, I had no clue as to who or what this package was all about...

He put the wrong address on the package, (and no, it was not sent USPS, but rather FEDEX)

I went to go pick it up from FEDEX, and when I opened it up... there was a small box in a larger box, (box in box), but no paper or other packing peanuts to keep the boxes from sliding around...

Then I open the smaller box... Again, no paper or packing materials to keep the electronics, and camera from sliding and or moving around, and THE CAMERA IS IN TWO PIECES....

I toook pictures, and contacted him, when if finally admits, that his wife brought the package to some pack and ship place, and apparently they did not do what they were supposed to do.

He is refusing to take the camera back and or refund. he said I did nto take insurance, BUT, there was no option on the checkout to buy insurance, (cause I always buy insurance). And although I told him FEDEX or others shippers would not cover it since there was no damage to teh box, and unless I lied about teh how it was shipped, they would state that the items were not packaged properly...

He does not want to be out the money he paid for the item originally, then be out the money he would have to refund me, (basically 175% or $400).

he thinks he should be out the 25% the depreciated cost of the item, (the difference from what he paid and what he sold it for), and I should be out the $160 jsut because....)

I tried to be nice, I tried to explain to him that I had no ability to protect myself or the item. I could not pack it. I could not verify if it was packed properly, and especially, I had nothing to learn from this excercise, other then to be leary of everyone....

He could learn to verify that he get what he pays for... if he pays someone to pack something, he should verify they did thier job properly...

Seems, like no matter what. I am a loser...

BTW: I jsut had my back surgery,,, and two days prior to the suregery,,, I had someone break into my car, and steal my ALPINE car stereo....

My insurance will only pay the first $1000 as it was after market, and I did not declare it and or pay extra for it, (which would have been rediclously low)....

So, now I am going to be out the difference bbetweeen an alpine and a pioneer or other stereo,,, (about $1000)

Uggh....

ummm, where to begin????

Well, I just dont seem to understand why some things are soo difficult???

I just want a website... I would like this one to be about my tank. www.thelittleocean.com

I wuold like it to have a page for visitors to view my tankreal time, control the camera and zoom in and around as they like....

I wuold like another page to hve my aquacontroller settings....

The otehr pages could be about my tank, diy stuff, pictures, hitchhiker ID page or something, and links page so I could share my fav lfs links, (of course cfc would be at the top)

But other then that, no problem, oh yeah, I got kicked off RC cause I bitched about the first guy that ripped me off, *(the guy I paid money to build my site that never bothered to do anything), then after RC mods closed my thread cause it did not related to reefs and or buy or sell, ?(well actually it did relate to that stuff, but the RC mod said it didnt), so when I bitched about it, I got hot and said things that made matters worse and I got kicked off,

SO, how could you help??? I dont know, tell me what you think you can help with???

i actually have a host server if that helps... or not... but let me take a look around.

And for the record, I would bet you money you cant get my webcam and aciii to go online. And they do work locally, (on my LAN) and they are designed to work iin that capacity. The problem lies with Earthlink/verizon

Care to take that bet???

Oh, is that you!? lol. no bets necessary. You got your ports blocked. That's usually the thing. Especially if it's working internal but not on the web. You also need a landing page that the server will pull up- like index.html or something. It's late, I'm tired... but I'll give advice when I can.

I may try you tomorrow, but I'm very swamped and slightly depressed.

How far are you again? I bet if I visited you, I might figure it out. Do you have a static IP address?

Yes, Frank is right. You need to unblock your ports on your router; just as well as the internal firewalls on your computer (for example, windows useless firewall blocker and other misc. programs).

Frank, he probably doesn't have a static IP as most static IP's are for business use and what not, but it could be a possibility. I highly doubt it as it generally cost more money; well for me at least.

oh yea, that is me...

I ahve th e ports unblocked and or rerouted... according to earthlink, everything is normal on thier end. Do I have to ask for specific info like what ports are blocked or what ports are open??

Do I have to pay to open ports?

Why am I the only one with blocked ports??? Seems no one else in the world has this problem, I have searched and searched forum, googles, everything....

It is effing rediculous, and sorry about the depression, if I could I would help. I have my share of depression things as well. Seems like my only salvation is diversion. My issues will never go away, I need to understand others deal with similar, (actually not so sure about that one though), and that life goes on....

The one thing I am grateful now, is my back surgery seems to be successful. If I can get rid of that pain, it will be a very good thing.

So, if you can, call me tomorrow, I should be here til mid afternoon. I pplan on going to the maslac bbq.

cant miss Anthony calfo, nor the raffle and auction.... Should be an event to not miss...

Bill

Oh, and right now all firewalls are off, at the router, and the uselss windows one, and I have some tightvnc server thing on my computer...

My router has virtual server page and I have a half dozen things setup to port forward for the webcam and the aciii

But, again, according to the gurus, nothing is going to work short of a miracle or a switching of isp

what port does the webcam use? you can check what ports are being blocked by going to www dot grc dot com and click on shields up. If you unblocked everything on your end then you can use the site to see what ports are opened and can redirect the webcam to use that port. GL

hello steve

The ports for my webcam are 5000, 5001, and 5100

Each one does something I think, video on one, controls on another, and something else on the third....

I will go check out that site, if I can read the cryptic thing, but hopefully that is what I am looking for, as it seems all ports are blocked, or no one can tell me what ports arent...

Fingers crossed

hello,

okay, all ports are blocked except 80, 21, and 23

I then hooked the computer straight tot he dsl modem, (no router), and ran the test again, with teh same results.

The test only tests the first 1056 ports, not sure how to test the rest, (upto 65000 something...)

But I would imagine they are all closed.

What should I do???

looks like http, ftp, and telnet ports are open then.
Remember the IP address that grc gave you. It is your external IP address.

you can run a local server and embed the video onto your webpage on your domain.

install iis or apache
download a webcam software if your webcam doesn't come with one
if it doesn't you can check out the several free ones or coffee cup webcam.

have the webcam software generate an html page.

edit the page on your website and add something like. It should stream the video now.

<iframe src="http://[ip addy]/[filename created by the software]" width="450" height="400">
Hmm, you are using a very old browser.
