What species? Are you talking about echinata or bowerbanki? Or maybe micromussa lords? They're all found in different environments. Bowerbanki are found on reef slopes, so they would be in lower light, while others are found in all locations on the reef.

Just get cultured acans, a lot of wild rainbows always morph to orange etc

It's amazing how many people don't realize this. Cultured all the way. The other thing, people need to research where these animals live on the reef, then they can place them in the tank accordingly. Corals of the World is a great index for this info.

I've had acan in less than 100 par, up to 350 par. They adapt over time to where ever you place them, but for me they've always done best in lower light 100-200 par with low flow
