Acans nipped by Flame Angel

Does anyone know if it is common for a flame angel to nip at acans. I'm not sure if the fish is actually nipping at them or stuff around them. I just recently moved them into this tank. I see the angel around them alot and they don't seem happy. Any suggestions.

Yeah, pygmy angels are always a hit or miss. The majority of the time, they do nip at LPS.

The weird part is it seems to only be that coral. All the other corals are fine. Go figure

yep flame angles like to eat soft coral polyps ect. 4 or 5 years ago i left my dad to take care of my tank for a bit while i was gone gave him everything he need to keep the tank rockin except water for changing ect. well about a month later he says the tank is doin good and i bought a new fish a flame angle i said get it out now itll eat everything hes like no its all good. Yup it was all good for the fish to eat that $30 fish cost me about $400 in coral thanks dad. for got to mention when i got back i found out he broke my tank and bought a new one to bad he through out my 8 48" t5s and replaced with compacts. sorry for going off subject but it hit home. :dontknow:

Wow. I don't want that to happen. Sorry for bringing back a nightmare. Catching that fish should be interesting. I think he is harder to catch than a damsel.

my flame was fine as long as i kept him fat.if i he missed a feeding he would go for my corals.

Yup my Flame has been picking at my SPS polyps since he matured. Tried to get him out with no luck. So when i move in a few months hes not gonna make it back in. Luckily no death just irritating them

I just moved the acans back to the other tank until I catch him. Even with a fish trap that one is impossible. The weird part is the angel only likes that one acan. I have another in that tank and its fine.

My flame has been nipping at my corals too. It wiped out the whole 2" patch of blue cloves in one day and I wonder what happened. I've seen him nipped at my monti too. But until he's more notorious I intend to keep him cuz I really like him.

I plan on keeping mine as well. Just not in my big reef tank with the pricey corals in it. He can eat mushrooms or frogspawn if he wants in my other tank when I sell my puffer fish.

I had a flame angel for over a year and then one day he decided that it would be a great idea to start picking at corals. He killed my volcano chalice, three acan lord frags and two heads of frogspawn and a few zoa colonies. After I noticed I kindly donated him to the local fish store for a couple frags.
