So....I've had this tank for several years and today I noticed that the acrylic has cracked and the seam is pulling away.

I have lowered the water below the crack but there is still pressure on the front panel.

I'm thinking of getting weld-on 16, fill the crack up and then use a large c-clamp to keep the seam close.

Thoughts, comments, concerns... GO!

Kevin,
I think Weld On 4 is better cause it is liquid so go through the crack better than thicker weldon 16.

I used Weld on 4 on a 180 tank that had separated in several areas 3-4 inches long across the bottom back. Of course it was empty. I would apply and once it had dried I would wait 3 days and filled it but the water pressure kept separating it. I redid it twice and finally used the thicker type not sure the number. I put a thick bead on the joint and let it dry for 4 days before filling. I've been using it for 20 months as my sump and no problems..

Untico - thanks for the reply. I'll have to wait until Monday because the plastics stores in Southern California aren't open on Sunday, at least the ones that I'm aware of.

Unless this is a sump confined to a garage, backyard, or other "flash-flood-friendly" environment, why would you risk it???

by-the-way, (seeing in your profile that its a 125 gallon)

if this happens to be a 5-footer I'll offer you $100 for it (damaged as is)

Looking for one to make into a sump (yes, outdoors as a matter of fact)

MadMax nah, I'll just either fix it myself or have John at AA fix it. The acrylic is worth more than 100$, but thank you for your offer.

That crack looks like it happened from whatever hit the radiused corner of your tank to the right of the fracture. Doesn't look like it's going to spread to me. Acrylic tanks do not typically experience seam failures unless they were improperly built to begin with.

mannyhernz and Xmas_one thank you for your input. I'm going to clamp it and get some weld-on on Monday. Thanks again for everyone's input.
