so i just bought a skimmer. its the top fathom 110a i believe

i just bought a 500 gph pump

i didnt trust the skimmer being too clean so i soaked it with water and vinegar together for about 24 hr and i washed everything out

today everything is all up and no matter how i adjust the water flow valve its skimming way too much. is it possible that the pump is too strong? or do i have to wait for the breakin?

Have you adjusted the height of the skimmer? You can build an egg rate bottome to add height out of the water. Pics would help.

yea i adjusted it all still go too crazy. if i raise the pipe up will it lessen the flow or create more flow?

could it be the vinegar still in the skimmer? also i havent had a skimmer in the tank for about 4 months now.

it could be something that was just in your water... a tiny bit of soap from a sock, or some sort of oil can send them crazy for a while... just be patient

new update its been 4 days since i added in a skimmer. i dont need the air control valve anymore now seems like its broken in. i just took out probably about a 1 gallon waste. it was nasty and brown. thats a good sign. seems lik its calming down now so not too much waste in the tank :D thank you all for answering my questions!
