Adding Sand

Hi

I am going to add more sand to my refugium to have DSB. And going to get about 60LBS live sand tonight. My question is should I disconnect the refugium from the sump and make sure the sand gets cycle first or just put it in without disconnect? He said the sand just took it out from the tank and still in the water in the bucket.

You are probably going to want to turn off your return pump because the water is going to be cloudy from the sand being poured in.

If the sand is from an established system there is no need to cycle.

No need to cycle the sand if the sand remove from the established tank.
