Need advice in hurry. i have 24 gal Innovative Marine tank with very fine sand bed. Pair of Phantom decided to kicking sand round irritating the corals, some closed up for days now. Just got some live course sand from the scr member, he just took down the tank ( shout out to Patrickf giving it to me for free along with some other freebies, thanks again ). want to know what to do with it? remove all the old sand and put new one in/ or just lay the new sand on top of the old one/ or clean/dry out the new sand then make new layer. Your thought and advice greatly appreciated. Tia.

Clean the sand couple time and dry it then use a PVC pipe with a funnel, slowly put the sand in. Do it slowly over time do not dump all in because it will kill all beneficial things that live under the sand.

Thank you for the respond. I took the plunge 3 weeks ago and poured in all the sand after cleaned/dried them for 2 days. You're right. Most of the Zoas were/are very unhappy, closed up and seem melting away. Frog spawns/hammers/cloves/acans are ok with it. still battling with revive to keep them alive. on the verge of loosing 2 colonies of Red Hornets. Other than that it's a good learning curve, will take it slow next time. Thanks again for your input.

i think corals don't like the rapid changes, just like most of the human......lol.....i'll let you know if the Hornets gonna make it.
