So my male Mandarin and Shrimp Goby have been best friends for the last couple years. The Goby passed away this morning and my Mandarin looks lost. I can't decide if I should try getting him a female, or leave him solo. I highly doubt there would be a second bond with another Goby. Any thoughts?

Sorry for your loss bud. Why not try another goby? Ya never know maybe they will make a special bond.

Yeah, might be worth a shot I guess. It was a blue spot shrimp Goby, common enough, yet I never see them at the store.
Lol that's the way it is, some very common fish never get bought. I'd say it's due to the taste of the person at wholesale. But I'm sure anyone can get it for you ASAP.

Pretty much haha. The weird thing is the Goby I had doesn't even look like the ones I see in pics. I thought about trying a twin spot Goby. I don't know what their personalities are like though. I know shrimp gobies naturally pair with pistol shrimp, maybe that's why mine took to the Mandarin since there was no shrimp available?

Very possible, I have a chevron who follows my bluestar male alllllll day. No reason for it what so ever, sometimes their are relationships we can't explain. Just happy we can enjoy them as long as we can. That's why it sucks to have a death like that but you never know what can cause a new relationship.

So I picked up a tiny blue spotted watchman Goby yesterday. He's eating already, yay He's a tiny little dude though. But my Mandarin is already sitting on top of him today. Poor little dude has no idea what to make of it though lol. But the Mandarin is out swimming again so I guess it was a good call. I'll post a pic of them once the new guy gets settled in.
