Is it feasible to deprive them of light, given the absence of chaeto? If it's feasible to drain the refugium as part of a water change, perhaps try sucking up the aiptasia with a shop vac.

You could always make it personal and zap em. Being that they’re in the fuge though, you should be able to get aggressive with them and scrape and vacuum them into a sock.
I have a zapper if you decide you want to go that route.

thanks for the advice. I heard they can release spore and explode when irritated. So being in the fuge. They should not release spore into the DT? I guess I could scrape them off then pump all the water out of sump as water change as well
If you want to be 100% sure, my advice would be to take a Saturday or Sunday and clean out the whole sump. I've had aiptasia in an external overflow retract and show life after being outside for 5 days in about 1/8" of water.
The only real problem is they create a reservoir for spawning Aaptasia in the tank but they’re not gonna hurt anything in your refugium. In fact, they’re pretty good filter feeders.

I probably has always had aiptasia in the sump but they never make it into the DT bc my peppermint ate any small ones probably but want to nip the problem in case my peppermint population dies over time without me realizing it.
