Reefers , need some quick advise , first I have been gone for a long time I'm back, I upgraded from a 12g nano that had ups and downs , and now I have a 75 g with a 20g sump with a sc-s50 protein skimmer , , ocean revive led unit and plenty of flow, tank is been up an running since early February, current stock( Fish )3 damsels, 4 blue/green chormis , and a clown, (corals) GSP and colt, and dealing with hair algae. I'm feeding once a day parameters are normal, API test kit for phosphate always shows 0.25. My question is can I treat the GSP directly with a peroxide dip to stop the algae invading the GSP, the purple mat I don't see it growing at all and polyps are getting smaller due to the algae around them, I got it on march 4th. any help ideas would be appreciated.

The picture shows no sign of algae...AND a yellow tang or something that looks like a yellow tang, or maybe a mimic yellow tang. Anyway, I have done that in the past. Many people here have been dipping their corals, including GSP, to H2O2 to temporarily remove hairy algae. H2O2 concentration might be a bit controversial, but I have tried 50% tank water and 50% H2O2 before. The H2O2 is not the final answer as the algae will come back FAST if nothing else is done to the water. Every time you dip, the corals/GSP will take a few days to recover. They are never recovering as fast as the algae :-(

It's so hard to get rid of hair algae. I battled it for a while till I just took all my rock scrubbed it bleached it dried it out for 3 days and bam I beat it!!! Lol I tried everything. Sea hairs, tangs, lawn mower blenny, raised mag. Nothing worked. Oh and those lawn mower blennys are the meanest!!!

Is that an oceanic tank?? I have some hair algae and some cyano so i bought no3po4 x from redsea and started dosing it daily for about a week now and ive noticed all my crushed coral turned white, use to be covered with green algae and the hair algae is slowly thinning out. So i highly recommend it. its 3ml for every 25g but i just dose 3ml for about 75g, id go half the recommended dose.
