I use the same water form Carson Tropical Alk is around 8-9. How much water are you changing ? You might need to do a bigger water change.

Whatever you do, you don't want to do it too fast. I think an alk swing would be worse than high alk.

Honestly, I wouldn't do anything yet. Tomorrow see if you can have a friend test your water with something other than api. I used to use api & my alk was always great but nothing was growing in my rank. I got a salifert kit & compared results... My alk was actually only 5.4. I have no faith in api tests. Maybe you're not as high as you're thinking it is. Don't go doing anything drastic yet. You might end up causing more/worse problems.

I think the salt you are thinking of may be Tropic Marin...

I would buy a Salifert Alk test kit and retest. And really big water changes tend to drive my alk up since I use Reef Crystals and is very high in Alk.

Kinda hard to understand your posts. I dont see how your alk could be 14, unless u were adding something that caused alk to go up. I've used API test kit, and it was exactly the same as my Salifert. I'm thinking that maybe u tested incorrectly. Take ur water to a fish store and ask them to test it.
