An idea while I wait for my tank

Ok. So I'm looking at getting back into reefing. I was thinking about taking my old 15g and setting that up into a display refugium. Nothing fancy, something fun and easily transferred to the refugium in my next tank. The reason behind this was to get a jump start on adding healthy rock/life to my tank when I set it up. It seems like a good idea, right?

Here's a list of what I have.
15g tank with led light(was used as a planted FW tank a few years ago)
Canister filter Rena xp1(was going to be used w/ floss and cleaned weekly)
Heater
Co2 tank and regulator Red Sea setup(I know I don't need this but I have it, maybe I can sell it or trade it, I'm a poor single dad what can I say)

Can I do this what I have? Or will I need a few things?

This is a very good idea. I dont think you need tge co2 tank just good flow and periodic water changes. Get some live rock ,sand, snails, and a some pods!
