Anemone question (lta)

Hey guys so I finally got a cool looking anemone. I went with an awesome looking purple long tentacle anemone. I made a little hole on the sand bed yesterday and placed it there and this morning, its still in its spot but I'm worried cus its mouth is wide open. Is that normal during its first 24hrs or should I be freaking out? (Taptalk logs me off every time I try to post a picture)

No I made sure it wasn't. Foot was fine too.

Well I woudnt freak out but I would say that its under stress due to switching tanks and still acclimating. Keep an eye on it maybe try feeding it a small amount of mysis and see if it eats it.

Anemones are weird. Just leave him be, if he wanted to he would have moved.

Yeah if you go into some LFS's you'll see perfectly happy and acclimated anemones closed up for what ever reason, with in 24 hours they look perfectly fine again, they suck up water to make them selves bigger. Your anemone could even be "pooping".

I've kind of noticed mine opens its mouth almost size of a quarter when he poops but I feed mine whole silversides

Thanks guys. Yeah I spent $60 on it so I'd hate to lose thay much in just a few days lol

I just purchased a nem about 3 weeks ago and did the same thing yours is doing now. I was concerned as well. About 2 days later his mouth closed up, he moved around a bit, and started taking mysis. As long as it was healthy when you purchased him, I think it will be fine.
