Oh come on Kenny,..were already too politically correct for my taste.

Gypsies are gypsies ,..what should we call them,..wandering romanian-ish tribes with bears and trumpets ? :)

With so many peeps making over 100K a year, looks like the "George W. Bush era" was so bad to you..... Be careful what you wish for, Hillary or Barak is on the way to take all of that extra tax money.:hello:

take from the rich, give to the poor!

hahaha

sorry, couldn't resist!
but it seems it cool to hate GW!:hmmmm:

Its isn't like that extra tax money isn't coming from our pockets; they take it, then give it back, then they’re going to taken again in one form or another. Bush is only trying to leave on a good note. When Clinton left office he left with a surplus in the nation budget.

Either way I'm not turning down the check!!! But I'm not going to like bush anymore then I do now.

Geography is undoubtedly the best thing about California, Southern California in particular. Deserts, mountains, beaches, all within a couple of hours of each other. That we have lots of LFS is largely in part, I suspect, also to geography: population, LAX, being "close" to Hawaii.... That there is a large demand for it here doesn't hurt, either...

I love the geography of SoCal. Can't stand the economy and a great percentage of it's citizens, however.

No wonder Californians have such bad reputations wherever we go. We're leaving in droves, and instead of blending into wherever we go, we're trying to change things into more little "California's"...

I can do without self important, self centered, selfish citizenry, thank you... Let them leave. Hopefully we'll get new citizens with a better attitude...

The good thing about living in California is access to a lot of fish stores. In general, the selection in California is much better than other states. I wonder if that is why my taxes are so high?

The only problem with that theory is that we'd make a helluva lot less; generally, things even out.

If what you mention actually worked, I'd be gone by now...

:D

Yeah, but think of all the money you would save on house payments, food, etc.........You can have the best stuff shipped to you and still come out way ahead.

My brother lives in a nice neighborhood in Atlanta and has a 5000+ sq. ft. house that he probably paid less than $500K for. The same house here in a decent neighborhood out in the boonies will probably be twice and triple if it's closer to LA.

Keep everything in context. The cost of living in SoCal makes it to where 100K per year is chump change in many places... It's all relative.

As for it being "cool" to hate Bush, for the record, I was doing that long before most of you.

Call me a trend setter...

Ignorance and arrogance are bad foreign policy... And this guy's proven to beat them all when it comes to being ignorant, arrogant AND - IMO - not very bright. Not sure I'd say stupid, but of less than an average IQ, I would think.

Anyway... This stimulus package is just one more thing my great, great, great grandchildren will be paying for. If the planet lives that long, that is.

I'm unhappy with almost every single thing this administration has ever done. I'll be glad to see him go. Perhaps he'll do less damage once he's out of office...

*crosses fingers*

Keep in mind that its household income and I remember reading something a few months ago where it said the highest average household income in CA is in Anaheim Hills or some thing like that at just over 100k and average at around 65k. Don’t quote me on it though…….. 65k a year probably means a mobil home if I were to stick with my current lifestyle.

But yeah I also hated bush from the get go, voted for Al.

I doubt that it was for CA. Maybe OC but not CA. There are far more affluent towns like Rancho Santa Fe, etc...

As for this check that Bush is handing out (again), remember that the last time he did this it was an advance on a tax credit and it reduced the amount of the refund you received on your tax return. I'm not sure if it is being applied the same way this year, but I do remember the words "credit" being used in a draft I read somewhere back. There is no such thing as free. Also keep in mind that while we are all receiving this check, our funding for education and other key social welfare programs are being raped.

So in essence, that check you cash is some poor kid's school books and Tuesday Taco boat.

I remember being a kid and being proud to be an American. The world in general seemed to look up to us. Now I am afraid to travel abroad.

Ok I live in poverty. Both me and the wife both have degrees and both work and we still don't break 100k a year. That sounds just like my life! :(
This post was mainly to determine if it's possible to keep a reef without being in the upper part of the middle class.

If you compare apples to oranges Reefing is a pretty inexpensive hobby. Take motorcross for examole. My bike cost me 8,500 out the door. And thats just for the bike. That would get a person a pretty sweet tank. As long as you don't buy into all that "Ultra rare purple fuzy bunny tort" crap or the "fire breath flaming red super rare milli.", reefing is cheap in comparison to what a lot of people are paying for boats and toy haulers. And you can come home every day to play with your tank. No need to pack up and head to the track or the dunes to play. JMO

It’s really the person more then anything; you take it as far as you like. You can easily spend $50 a month on the hobby or you can spend $5000. The hobby is only as expensive as you make it….. said the guy selling the $3000 skimmer :D

Household income is a little over $100k, not nearly as much as I would like. Neither my wife nor myself have Bachelors (I have an A.A.), but my wife is taking online courses to get her B.A. We'll be able to afford a house someday!
