I haven't had the chance to look @ the ceiling just been so busy. The store does have drop ceiling and from what I was told there is studs running all across the store.. I want these lights to be hanged clean!

No chains that just doesn't look nice.. I would like to use the same type of wire that is integrated to the lights.

Now that I think about it, it's going be a pain in the behind to hang these lights and all the other lights as well Metal Halides, LED's.. It's a good thing I have my brother to do it.. Just needed some ideas but I will try to get above the ceiling tonight or tomorrow and see what it looks like and snap some pics.

Screw those metal racks onto the studs haha free material. Bolt a Eye bolt with a washer and nut... hang the wire from that... drill a tiny hole through the ceiling tile... clean look.

Jeff is the engineer tho... but I think that would work.

LOL I like the tiny hole idea on the ceiling tile. defn a clean look just gotta see if there is wood running right across where I want the lights to be... Prob not so we will have to add some 2x4's

if you're lucky, the roof joists will be running perpendicular to the orientation of the tank, so that you can bolt a unistrut across several joists.

if not, you'll have to run intermediate members and THEN the unistrut to support the light.

none of that is complicated, but depending on what's up above, it could be difficult to access. if you don't have individual AHU for each unit, there's a good chance you have ducts feeding other tenant spaces running through your space. you won't know til you look up there.

one word of caution though, check your lease agreement. these modifications might be NBD if you own the place, but if you're leasing the space, making structural modifications (drilling into the roof joists COULD constitute structural modification) may be a breach of contract.

what about what i brought up a little earlier about wire management.

the thing about the ground mounted frame is that you can run the wires right along the frame and down to outlet / power stripes.

from the picture, it doesn't look like there's existing jboxes in the ceiling grid. if you're looking for a clean look, i'm guessing you're gonna want the power cables to run along the hangers up into the ceiling? any idea what the amp draw is per fixture? standard breakers are 15-20A.

if your plan is to run an extension cord from a back office and just plop it above the ceiling, make sure you add up the usage, and make sure you're not going to trip the breaker the second you turn it on.

That is one concern I have "wire management".. I really don't want to run a bunch of stuff through the ceiling.

We are leasing the spot so that is a concern as well.

The more I think about hanging everything from the ceiling the more I want to just build some aluminum light racks that connect with the wood stands and just hang everything that way.

I was hanging my LEDs on hanger that I diyed with pipes that electricians use. I bought from Home Depot and ask them to bend it 90 degree on the upper end drilled a hole end fastened a bolt-hanger again from Home Depot spray painted it black and fastened it to a stand with tube-fastening circles from pluming(Home Depot). Spent 11$ but looked great. Sorry don't have picture with me but if you want to I can put the pics too later

those types of hangers won't be practical for this application for 2 reasons:

1. the horizontal span (otherwise known as cantilever) will be over 2 feet. that's a lot of torsional force to be putting on EMT. you can try to use 1.5"+ emt, but home depot won't be bending that for you, and it'll look pretty ugly.

2. the weight of the T5 fixtures are higher than LED fixtures.

You can have 2 of those on each side with same 90 degrees banded hangers should be ok and also I was hanging pretty heavy LEDs on just 1 hanger from Chana( eBay )
