Noticed my purple gig has been moving a little too much for my liking...so i tried to get it back to its place and noticed that it has two foots...um feet? well, whatever you call them, it has two of them lol...my gf thinks it might be getting ready to split and while that would be awesome, i thought i would ask if anyone has any experience with something like this...check out the pictures for reference...also included a couple other pics that came out half way decent.

If it's trying to elongate or "stretch itself out more, then that's usually a sign that it might split.

There was a guy in OC awhile ago who had a neon green gig split. I believe he posted it on R2R. Unfortunately, I don't think he ever followed up with how the clones were doing.
Thanks Jamie. I'm going to look for that post/thread on R2R...btw, i forgot to mention this on the first post but this purple gig of mine is an actual clone/split...albeit a manmade one...so i'm hoping that since i've had it for approximately 19 months maybe it's ready to split on its own.

btw, how many gigs do you have at this point and how long have you had them?

Really? I didn’t know that there are successful man-made gig clones. Cool! You did this yourself?
The truth is that I bought it not knowing that it was a cut clone. I personally wouldn't be able to play surgeon on such an expensive and finicky animal. But I'm glad it worked out because I have never kept a gig this long (in july it will be two years)

P.S. Sorry for being so vague. I am waiting to hear back from the dude I got it from..just want to play it safe and get the ok to post all the details. Hope that makes sense.

Found the thread! Sorry, it wasn't reef2reef but RC.

Thanks Jamie. Small world — that’s Anthony, a friend of mine. I actually bought three of his tanks! lol Let me ask him his experience and whatever happened to those nems long term.

Keep photos and videos, document it for the hobby. Maybe you can write up your experience and share it. Would be cool piece from reefer perspective and the progression, and what you did to treat it or keep it going. Very cool.

Talked to Anthony — both gigs survived the split and were healthy; however, he later sold them.

Hope that over time, we can finally frag & propagate gigs, just like the other nems…Perhaps we might have a better chance fragging naturally split ones?
What’s Anthony up to these days? I haven’t been to his place in years, he always had a great looking tank.
