Anyone Dosing Sodium Nitrate?

I’ve been dosing sodium nitrate. Bought it directly from Loudwolf in small 4oz containers. Calculated concentration to make a solution that would use 10mls to increase nitrates to 1 in my 150gal system. I dosed 4mls/day until I reached 5. Now I dose 2ml/day and have more livestock.

Started doing my own reefmoonshiner mixing in 2020. Definitely cheaper mixing your own if you have a larger system. And more fun if you ask me…

This will be interesting. Good prep for tank bacteria to receive more fish.

Spread the dose out over the course of the day you can probably dose a little more. I’m dosing 4-6mL a day in my 90g.

So what is everyone's tank size and how much are you dosing (per dose and how many doses per day)? Doesn't have to be exact, but just trying to see what amounts are people doing and if they are seeing anything good/bad.

From reading Randy's thread in R2R, it seems like he is suggesting to add 2.3 ml per 26 gallon PER DOSE, and to do several doses per day. So if my tank was 250gal, I would have to add like 20ml per dose. That's quite a bit. So want to confirm what other people are doing and if my read on Randy's post is correct. Last thing I want to do is add 23 mL of ammonia chloride to my tank and find out it was wrong interpretation.

In my 90g I’m dosing anywhere from 6-10mL a day and my nano system (roughly 35g) gets a couple mL every other day or so, as it’s not like my 90g and nitrogen limited. I tested NO3 yesterday and it was zero in my 90g, but there’s plenty of nitrogen feeding the tank. I also tested below 0.25ppm PO4 for the first time in a very long time, it was 0.18ppm. Until I get more fish, I may up the dosage a little?

I’m a visual reefer, numbers only tell part of the story.
