I went to MH. My sump is in the garage and it's been cold lately why use a heater at night to keep my tank warm when I can have 400 delicious watts of MH keeping it nice and toasty. Will switch back to T5/LED in the summer.

I'll kinda eyeball it but basically here you go bro grow. I'm still measuring my power usage to see if the halides actually use less power at night in combination with the heater.

Yeah I also wrapped my sump with styrofoam insulation but it's not enough. Now I'm going to wrap it in fiberglass insulation r14 or so rated. Hopefully that will keep it from boiling in the summer as well when the garage is a furnace.

Yep! I've used LEDs, T5, T12 and MH. Halides are the best for coral growth. Hands down.

I had AI for a year and half and was never happy with the coral growth until I switched back to metal halides.

And I no longer have the shadowing problem I did before.
