Hopefully large enough to catch my 3" naso and mata mata tang? I think the rest I can catch with the DYI bottle trick.

I bought a 40g and got it set up with a large biowheel, heater ect. Caught my pair of clowns, they survived the fresh water dip, currently been in the ruby reef dip for and hour then going into the qt. They are my "testers". I bought a pos seachem copper test, which seems iffy at best. I can't imagine the dry dip stick in powder can be all that accurate, but who knows. Fingers crossed.

If anyone has a fish trap I can borrow to catch the rest of my fish, i'd appreciate it & and will give it a thorough cleaning/vinegar bath before it is returned.

I have one you could use but I'm in Rancho cucamonga, I'm sure that's way too far for you but if you happen to be out in this area you are welcome to pick it up.

I have one that I made, it looks ugly but it does the job. I caught my 3" flame angle with it, I can let you borrow in the city of Orange by UCI medical center.

I got one you can use but I'm in bell gardens 90201. Honestly I'm considering selling my aquamedic $50 trap because I feel this diy trap works better

It's that really big water jug by crystal geyser.string at the top holes for water to escape at the bottom and kept down at the bottom of the tank with a tiny piece of live rock. Sometimes the hardest part for me is waiting until all the fish I don't want to get out of the trap so I can pull out just the one I want. I've had up to 5 6 fish in it at 1 single time. Try it out

mmarro22 's idea will work great for you. Just cut a tiny hole in it and keep feeding through it with a turkey Baster. The fish will get used to it fast and go into it for feeding. That's what I did with my trap and just tied the door of it up with fishing line.

Thanks for mentioning the turkey baster. .. it's a total mess without one. But this works like a charm. Fish that will not travel more than half way across the tank with the traps we purchase will go in these like nothing. It's crazy!

Thanks loc01. I'm gonna give the dyi a try first, but I may take you up on that offer.

Thanks, its completely true, too, just with my usual sarcastic flare is all.

Speaking from experience, if that method doesn't work.....
simply poking/proding fish from their hidey hole at night usually does the trick. Fish sort of slumber in a half awake/half asleep state so that they can still dart away from predators, however it is like a drunken-monkey sort of affair. It takes most fish at least one full minute to awaken with all senses and reflexes intact, so it is during this crucial minute that you can net them relatively easy. Simply get your nets (multiple ones btw) in place before you start the process. If unsuccessful, simply wait for another night. You aren't gonna get them once fully away so no reason to cause undue stress (to both fish and you!)

Unless of course YOU are the drunken-monkey....then by all means, GAME ON, my friend! : )

Good Luck!

If all else fails, give me a shout out.....I'm in Garden Grove too.

I suppose I could get my hands wet for a fellow hobbyist.
