I was using All for Reef, but switched to just CarboCalcium, as I dose trace elements individually, but I really liked it. For tanks under 50g or so, it's pretty damn good. Just read up on how alkalinity is used/tested while first using this and you'll be okay. It's not a traditional 2 part, it's a formate, so it's bio-active as soon as you dose it, which can throw off testing alkalinity at first.

I use the liquid version and like it. Easy. Have to test to get your dosing right--TM recommends testing by Ca consumption since it is more accurate. I just test Alk and raise Alk a bit with baking soda solution occasionally when it is too far off.

Calcium reactor is so much easier and cheaper in the long run. I have used them all. Kalkw, b-ionic, balling method. Calcium reactor is the way to go
Every one I have know to have a calcium reactor have had tank crashes. My question to you is have you ever had a tank crash because of a calcium reactor?

Never. no just to to monitor the alk every 2 to 3 days just like with 1 part or 2 part dosing. Usually when I had it down it was once a week. Then I moved to Texas

There's no best way to add the essentials, it's really based on the tank's needs, skill level and what you feel comfortable using. All of the methods will get you to the goal post. Each method will have it's pros and cons, so there's no "best" method in this regard. For example, you wouldn't put a CaRx on a softie tank, would you? I know someone who uses AFR on a 300g system, but he gets paid a lot to take care of the tank, so the amount doesn't bother him. For me, I think AFR is great for nano tanks and maybe a mixed reef in the 40-50g range. The great thing about it is you only need one doser.

What size tank do you have? How long did it take to dial in the right amount? Do you have a mixed reef? Also do you dose all at once or through out the day?
Thank you

180 gal, ~210 with sump. I dose daily 50ml an hour before my lights come on. it’s a mixed reef. i used to weekly test to see how much alk/calc would drop and kept upping the dosage till it was stable. i’ll check on it occasionally if adding new coral/removing. i dont test for other parameters. and i dont turn off doser even after a water change and works out great for me !

Whoa at first I thought you say you dose 50ml every hour and I was like whoa but then I read again and notice you said an hour before lights come on. So your saying you dose once a day right?

My ALK has been dropping drastically sense I been using this product. I’m at 30ml per day for an 80 gal tank. Down to 6.7 DKH I’m very concerned. So I’m dosing BRS ALK to raise it because I can’t wait to see if this product works, raising my dose weekly. But I’m not stopping my dose. Hope this works
