So due to the high temps my heater hasn't been kicking on but I noticed a trend I want to duplicate. The temp climbs a bit slowly through the day then slowly drops. Vs the rapid up and down to maintain a constant temp plus the electric I think I want to program so it replicates this pattern

Hummm u might be able to set a max time on for the heater so its only on for 15mins or so at a time...with a min off time of say 15mins... so on for 15 off for 15... set the max temp higher and the lowest temp a bit lower for a wider range...?

Or use a smaller heater?

Not sure why u would want this normally

Natural ocean environment get cooler. At night and warms up thru the day not by large amounts but it would be more of an arc generally

Not sure I follow exactly why, but this is how you could set the heater to come on between certain times and temps.

Fallback ON
Set OFF
If Time 18:00 to 09:00 Then ON
If Temp < 77.0 Then ON
If Temp > 78.0 Then OFF

*edit: not tested. Please test my code before you rely on it.

I'm trying to replicate the daily arc of temp as you'd find in nature. Middle of night being coolest apex of sun / lights being warmest vs a constant temp

Ah I see. You could use the above and build some brackets to change how you'd like. I guess as we get into summer you'll have to do the same concept on your chiller controls...if you have one.
