I need to replace my cheap jbj ato because it is failing. I am in san diego during the week so i need something reliable! I want to hear people experience with Apex diy Ato and tunze osmolator 3155. Which should i go with and why? THANKS!

+1, I have an apex and I'm still running a mechanical float on a gravity feed. Looking to make the move to an aqualifter and switches, unsure of what switches to get.

I use a 2 tunze even tho I have an apex. I like that the tunze will beep when the level is higher. And having an optic sensor as well as a float switch is awesome.

The cheap aqualifter pump was part of my problem... It wouldnt turn on every time!
I reused my jbj ato switches on my apex BOB. Just monitor them and clean before use
The problem is they dont always work for me and i dont want to be in sd and return section go dry. My parents house makes my tanks evap like crazy, about 10 gallons a week!! I am looking for maximum reliability!

This is why i am leaning towards the tunze! Also i have turbos that got sumped after knocking over all my frags. The last thing i need is for them to get into my ato switches and mess things up! I came home one weekend and the turbo crawled over the baffles and was stuck on my return input!

Either option are great. My choice is the 3155,bc of the optic sensor and the high water alarm. But if you go with the apex, I would use better floats like one made by madison. Just be careful with the cheap chinese stuff, bc most of the stems are not sealed properly cuausing stray.. And thats the last thing you want..

For 10g a week, you need a reliable pump. Aqualifter is definitely not capable for that workload.
Tunze ATO pumps are great
