So I'm cleaning the tank so the tank is somewhat presentable for xmas eve gathering. I have about 40lbs of tonga branch as my aquascape but it's infested with aptasia. Getting frustrated with it and I've contemplated redoing my rock because of it. I've heard people inject lemon juice into aptasia, so I'm letting the tonga branch soak in a bucket lemon juice.

+1...I had one treatment in my dt for over three months now and have not seen it coming back. This Aptasia X works.

Karl, what size tank do you have? you could always buy burgia's but they wont kill it all off in time for you xmas party or gathering. or you can try peppermint shrimp. maybe put some rock or coral with apastia on it in a breederbox and put the peppermints in with it. iv read most peppermints will eat apastia when lights are off also do not feed the shrimp.

They always seem to come back after Aptasia x. All I know is that I don't have bristles, flat worms, or aptasia after getting a melanurus wrasse... Snails also seem to be disappearing ;) That's all a know...

Hey Karl when I bought my first tank with lr, it had tons of aptasia on it. I also used aptasia x and it worked wonders. Hopefully when you use it you're turning off all flow in the tank and just letting that pile of aptasia x sit there and melt away the aptasia. I keep it on for about 30 minutes before I turned the flow back on. Also the ones to watch for are the ones that hide in the little nooks and crannies. I spent a full week targeting aptasia in my tank. Now I can safely say I have not seen a single aptasia in my tank for over a year *knock on wood*

Well. I soaked the few rocks that I had in the display in a bucket of lemon extract diluted with water. And let it sit for 20-30 minutes. Majority of the visible aptasia had melted off. And the few that were still attached were easily wiped off. Once I scrubbed the rock, I did another quick dip in the lemon and then soaked them in a bucket of fresh water for a bit. Back into the tank they went. Aptasia free for the moment.

Yeah I'm definitely going to add some kind of fish/shrimp for aptasia control soon.

I had borrowed a filefish a couple of months ago, and it did well. Cleaned out all the visible aptasia from the display tank, but it also ate some of the few coral that I had. Once I returned the filefish, the aptasia quickly returned and multiplied faster than ever.

The problem with scrubbing any residual aptasia is that it spreads spores and the spores are more resistant than the actual aptasia so that can be a reason why aptasia growth runs rapid. Just keep an eye out for any new growth and burn it with the lime juice or whatever you use to destroy it. Just don't do the scrub

If there happens to be survivors i recommend aiptasiaX

That stuff destroyed my aiptasias, make sure you get those suckers good- get the stuff directly in it's face and then it's arms. If you have a lot I would just use it several times a day.

Unless you want to go on a all out war make sure you do water changes

A strong kalk solution worked well for me. Just mix kalk with just enough water so you can suck it into a plastic syringe.

I don't see any aptasia on the rocks but I know there's some in the sump so I guess it's just a matter of time till they make their way up to the display tank.
