Cones CO1 should be enough for your tank. Main thing I see is the S is a space saver with the pump underneath and has those cool jet nozzles on the bubble plate.

ive been wanting to know the same thing. from what I've read, the S is the newer model and uses less air intake than the normal cone series. Both are very quiet. I haven't heard too many bad reviews from either skimmer.

I recently got the ConeS Co-1 for my 75 gallon tank...
I'd reccomend the ConeS Co-1 its rated for up to 175 gallons!!

I will back that skimmer any day!!! This thing is a beast!!!
It has a very small foot print with the pump being underneath as well as it's height(19.5")
Its super easy to put together and comes completely apart! The collection cup removes from the body with less than inch needed to remove! It has the cone bubble plate.

Here's a pic of how well this skimmer did... Mind you its only been installed on my tank for 7 days!!

Also it uses a Sicce Pump which I've heard are very reliable and a top shelf product.

If you have any questions let me know!

why the price difference?
It seems the Cone skimmers are more expensive than the Cone S.
it seems the Cone has a higher tank rating than the Cone S.

Is the Cone S bubble plate harder to maintain/clean?

thanks nik that's the type of review I was hoping for. im thinking of going overkill with a co-3 for my 150g setup
Personally I'd save the 70 bucks and just get the Co-2 its rated up to 350 gallons...

Unless you are going to buy the Co-3 today(before midnight) and use the marine depot coupon code for 10% off then go ahead and get the Co-3

I didn't take much from the article except it tested each skimmer for a few hours a day without fish waste. They just "fed" the tank and used those measurements. IMO there are more variables than to just skimming a small tank a few hours a day
