I agree. The MAX is perfect for 1/2" glass. Mine works great.
I think it worked well... but don't let your coraline grow on the back wall for 2+ years... it was still a nightmare and I couldn't get it all since I can't get behind the left side of my tank. Used a hand scraper still for that side.

How do these compare to the tiger float algae magnets?
I own the Hammerhead one and while the magnet is super strong, the velcro it uses leaves spots of algae behind when cleaning. The other side isn't fine velcro, but the bigger kid so it leaves stuff behind. The Hammerhead or any other magnet on the line doesn't really work on coralline. It's just for the light algae film you accumulate. The Flipper, I believe uses felt cloth to scrub algae and it also has the blade on the other side. I like the felt because it wipes off the glass of the brownish film of algae better than the velcro. So if you want to wipe off light films of algae and coralline, I suggest the Flipper MAX. The Hammerhead or any of the other magnets don't do much on coralline despite of how strong the magnet is. Hope that helps.

You can get blade attachments for the algae free magnets that also work well.
I'm debating between getting the attachment for my algae free mag or buy the flipper.... Hmmm

Might have to come by and check our this flipper... To see if its the way I want to go...

I have the scraper for the algae free and it uses a razor blade, cuts through coralin like butter, but it is very easy to scratch glass when turning it or going around corners. In fact I recommend taking it off when switching glass panels or direction. I am going to buy the MAX and see if works well and less apt to scratch.
