hey jesse. those would not be a great amount of light over a 300 especially if you want to keep sps and clams. if you can fit a 8 bulb i would go with something like a 60 inch ati powermodule. their more expensive but for sure worth the money. i would go with 10 bulb 60 inch powermodule. thats about as much light worth of t5s you can prob fit on a 300 depending on width.

I have seen a tank that had 2 4' x 8 bulbs on a 8x24x24 tanks and the sps are amazing. I have t-5's on my 8' frag tanks I have only sps in it.

+1 on the t-5's..:)

you will need 8x, for the height and wide and to get what seem to want is like plus a 250 watt mh every 2 feet. A tank like that can dark areas very easy as well as a money-pit.

I think shapermike is running 8 or 10 on his. I will be trying to run 4-6 on my new setup, 36x18x19. I haven't done it myself but I saw Mikes tank and everything looks great! I know this doesn't really answer your question, I would double check with Mike to see what he is running.

I believe those are not made for wet conditions. It says on the makers website. But are they not almost the same as a Tek ?

what if I got 2 of the 48'' Aquarium Light T5 HO 4X 54 and don't put actinics on, just daylights, because I already have 4 compact florescent actinic bulbs? would that work?
