I would go with the ATK because it has a lot of fail safes. Like the float valve. If you cant have the sump higher than your reservoir the float valve will not allow water to keep on pouring due to a siphon.

Not on your list but the Avast Marine ATO gets my vote. It uses a pressure switch to activate the pump so no snails to clog the float switch.

I second the tunze. Has mechanical and laser accuracy. I have something similar to the autoaqua, and it fails at least 2x a week.

Iv'e had the smart ATO system for a year now and I haven't had any issues, I actually just put an order in for the AWC system. Making water changes easier makes it less likely for myself to neglect/procrastinate on the tank. I like the apex ATO but it also takes up a bit more real estate which might cause an issue if you don't have space for it. It does have some cool extras and allows for upgrades, but if you don't plan on getting an apex controller then you probably wont utilize them as much. If I had 75gallon+ tank I might opt for the apex if I planned on sticking with the hobby for years to come. Anything smaller Id just go for the awc system. just my 2 cents

Well David, since you dont plan on sticking with this hobby for years to come, put me 1st in line for your AWC system when you part out your equipment. I have 1 on one tank and could use 1 on the other.
