Im considering the automatic water exchange module by spectrapure. I would basically mix the salt for a few days and sit back for the rest of the month and not worry about water changes. It would save me half an hour every weekend, plus it maintains stability better.
It requires 2 calibrated pumps: 1 pump automatically sucks water out of the sump to a drain, another doses the exact same amount from a saltwater mixing drum to the sump.
I would change 2gallons a day for 25 days of the month (mix the salt the other 5-6 days). That 2 gallons is drained and added in 150 increments per day. Spectrapure did the calculus, and said at this rate I would be changing 97% of that 2 gallons per day, or 93% of a 50 gallon mix per month.
Ive got the 55gallon drum loaded with Tropic Marin Pro salt. Other than ending up using a bit more salt and electricity, is there a down side to this?
Anyone have experience with this?
