I figured it was about time to get back into the game. Last summer, my wife and I bought a house, so I took the opportunity to negotiate a tank upgrade into the deal! I ended up stumbling upon a 240 that I had seen up close and personal years ago. On one of my coral trading expeditions about 8 years ago, I purchased a few frags from a guy that had a beautiful 240 gallon full blown reef. Fast forward to this past summer; while searching for a "new" tank, I came across this guy's tank. I called him up and told him that I had seen his tank years ago and I would love to own it. He made me a deal I couldn't refuse and I brought it home.
One of the deals with the wife is that I agreed to wait to set it up until the solar (which we purchased as soon as we bought the house) was operational. Months passed and finally at the end of December the solar was turned on. Just as I was planning the build, I found out I had torn a tendon in my elbow and would need surgery, so I would once again wait.
Surgery was 2 weeks ago today, and I can officially say that the build has begun!
I completed the plumbing with mostly the use of 1 arm, but I'm confident in the design. Today I'm working on constructing the canopy and hopefully by the end of the week I'll add the water.
I've watched countless build threads over the years and couldn't wait to do one of my own.
I'll post pics throughout the journey. It's nice to be back!!
