I have a pair and for some reason one of them stopped eating.. So did some research and I have a feeling he is the male and is holding the eggs in his mouth. He looks like a bull dog lol. So now I'm just kind of curious if I leave things be if I'll eventually have some baby cardinals swimming around? And survive? Anyone have experience with these fish?

When they hatch they usually get eaten up by other fish.

The male won't eat for a few weeks until the babies hatch. Mine do this all the time. I've had only a few babies survive. Most all the babies become food to the other fish. Not much you can do about it. I tried making fake urchin out of a putty ball and toothpicks for them to hide in but I don't think it worked. Just don't worry the male will be fine and eat when it's all over.
