For the vortec the driver will switch over
So this basically continually trickle charges the battery? Also, if this setup is always plugged into the MP40 controller... it's not causing damage to anything? I'm not sure how these things work but I'm thinking that when the power goes out the controller looks for alternative power automatically? And whatever is hooked up to it..it will use that as it's source? Sorry for the ignorant questions. I'm learning :)

The float charger is designed to slowly keep you battery charged at all times without damaging your battery. My sump and battery is in the garage so I don't have to worry about potential battery leaks or hazards. I forgot to mention is put a 2amp fuse on the positive side for safety precautions.

When the Vortech loses power it will automatically switch to the 12v battery. When running on battery the Vortech only runs only in one mode which is a constant 1/2 speed.

If you cant find the 1.3mm cable you can order one from Marine Depot or other stores for around $15. You need to cut the cable in half and splice the two wires. Very simple. When cutting in half you basically have enough to make two cables since you only need one 1.3mm jack.
