i went with kessil's and T5 retrofit combo, i like the shimmer kessils give and t5s will grow anything. i guess the three ways to go is,
1: buy big now so when you uprade later you can reuse.
2: buy cheap, watch things grow slow and poor and get out of the hobby
3: buy good and cheap, can throw away/resell. so when you do upgrade you can get something super nice.

and since you're still researching theirs plenty of time to see if anyone is selling a 24" light for cheap
