Looking for a place to buy some nice live rock. I will be setting up a 150 soon and was wondering where I could get a good deal.
Thanks

Cheapest 'live rock'. . .

There's a place in North Hollywood called Aquarium Works that seems to have way cheap prices. I think they may ship via container. . . with rock arriving 'dead' or nearly so. . . then spend time in a tank to revivify it. . . so mixing with some 'fresher' live rock might be necessary. . . but with the amount of LR you're looking to buy, it might work out real well. I haven't got their phone number, but they're on Burbank Blvd. Good luck. . .

I think any place is far from Barstow. Where do you normally go for an LFS living in Barstow? One place that is probably closer for you than the others is Global Aquatics in Ontario. They actually have a pretty good selection of live rock and it is not all just thrown into a tub or a tank. So you have easy access to pick up and check out every single piece of rock to find what you like. I don't remember what they charge though.

the best thing I ever did was start with dead rocks. it'll take longer to look nice but never had problems with any kind of algae nor pests. knock on wood. so buy from someone who is taking down their tank, usually runs from 1-2 bucks a pound vs. 4-6 at your lfs. my 2 cents
