What is the best place to buy fish in the OC. Is there a place that sells fish that don't have ich or disease issues? A place that uses copper in there holding tanks?

Thanks- Dylan

I believe coral gazers in tustin, qts their fish.
They don't anymore as far as I know.

Almost no store properly quarantines fish... its just not worth the the time and money involved. Age of Aquariums does treat sick fish as far as I know, but they don't all get quarantined prior. I'm sure others have similar practices. Best to call and ask.

Not many stores, if any, quarantine. It doesn't make much sense financially and you wouldn't have a large selection of fish if you did a proper quarantine. Just find somebody who knows how to pick healthy fish from the wholesaler if you're not going to QT.

Has their selection improved?
I've only gone there 4-5 times because they are far from me. I hadn't seen ultra rare fish but they did have some nice clowns, angels, tangs, anthias and gobies.
I bought a yellow assessor and a yellow tang. Both went straight in the tank and had 0 issues.
In contrast, I have lost a considerable amount of $ by shopping at a store in OC that almost always has a good selection. Out of about 8 fishes purchased in a 9 month period only 1 survived. Others died in QT. Don't want to name this particular store because I like their employees and go there to buy corals from time to time.

I like seaside in Huntington Beach, been buying nice rare/unique fish from them the past month with zero problems. My bank account hates them right now im sure..:suspicious:

Eric: i bet I know what store youre talking about, bought 7 fish within last month and only 1 made it. Not suprise, but I never have luck with fish from them, which hurts because they always have a lot of fish to browse thru..

I agree with Seaside! Most of my fish have come from there and I have never had any problems.. (white tail bristle tooth tang, leopard wrasse, blotched anthias, midnight clowns, hippo tang etc. --all still fat and happy after almost 2 years & no ich problems with the tangs) :)

If you feel like coming south I have never had issues with fish from Coral Gazers or Oceans Tropical Fish in mission viejo. Oceans is closer to home for me and they always have a great selection and I don't think I have ever lost a fish from ether store do to disease. Oh and I am a dirty pirate.
