Water changes make dinos worse. Post a picture of what think are dinos..they might not be

How long has your tank been running? My tank ran into algae that looked pretty much the same at about 3-4 months and prevented a lot of corals from opening. Almost everyone told me it was Dino's. The owner of my lfs just told me ride it out. Took about 4-6 weeks but it finally went away.

Give it some time before starting over. I've gone through some weird algae since starting my current tank. Like I said earlier, my Dino look alikes took over a month to go away and I didn't even change anything. After that I had some browning on my sand but it's starting to go away and I still have done anything different. Your tank has only been up for 6 months, mine is at about 10 months and just now I am finally noticing things to stabalize.

NOTE: I did start this tank with dry sand, 1/2 dry rock and 1/2 live rock from my old tank.

This was my tank with dinos..
Look at yours see if it resembles.
Inly true way to be sure they are Dino's is to get a sample under the microscope.

I had the same problem before after my tank was up for 4 months. I just moved all corals to my friend's tank and let the tank run with fish only and no light for a month with weekly water change. During that time, only room light was used when feeding. Dino went away after that.

The thing is I don't mind restarting I'm just curious to how i would add my livestock to a new tank without brining the Dino's back in?
Dinos will hitchhike. They are very small and Cling to ish like rocks and coral...for now i would stop water changes and feed some phyto..live is better btw..

I'd wait it out for a bit as well. I've had them in every system I've started up. So a restart might not fix that for you.

Member sonnus had a cool test for dinos. He syphoned the dinos out of the tank through a filter sock and into a white bucket. Left it outside in the sun and the dinos started to regroup. If I remember right it only took a few hours.

There is a thread on another forum about hydrogen peroxide dosing. You could pull a piece out and place it in a bucket. Add a few mls of peroxide. Place it back in the tank and see of it dies.

Like the others are saying. Your tank is still new and a lot of times this is just part of what happens after and during a cycle. I would take a power head to your rocks and a turkey baster to your coral to blow everything thing off and let your filtration catch it. Get a good cleaning crew and wait it out. If your doing everything else right it will go away in time. Just chill and give it time. A lot of of us have gone threw this. One time or another.
