So basically everything seems fine in my tank. Nitrates Phosphate Nitrites all at 0 PH is good I am running a kessil 350w on 50% over the tank. My tank consists mostly of softies and acans but I have been able to keep a pocillopora coral. I really want to keep a birdsnest but every time I drop one in by day 3 it starts bleaching from the base out to the edges. What am I doing wrong? :frusty:

Do you start at the bottom of the tank? Bleaching is usually to much light.
+1 if it was bleaching from the top. From the issues I have had bleaching from the bottom can be any number of things from not enough light to high or low alk.

What's your cal, alk, and mag levels? And even though your po4 is testing at 0 do you have any algae of any sort as that will give you incorrect readings?

Agree with Mike. Bleaching from the base might not be from light. Probably need more insight on your parameters. Are they stable as well? How's the flow?

Also....phosphates at 0 means there's no food in the water....which, you guessed it, can bleach your coral. We'll need more info before you get legitimately helpful answers...just too many factors to really pin it down.
