Does egg crates have to be black?? I have a white one. Does it make the coral grow faster or is it strickly preference?? just wanted to know.

white egg crate supposedly makes snot algae grow and then it can get onto your frags.

ya white sucks! If white, you need to make 2 racks, 1 to switch out when you're cleaning the other one every other week. The black eggcrate stays a LOT cleaner and creates a better color contrast making the coral "pop" more on a black background... :top:
