I am in the midst of getting everything purchased to set up my reef. I really like the pop of the colors when tahitian moon sand is used... but I had a few questions before I choose. Will the black fade? and also is there going to be a problem with gobys sifting through the sand I dont know if they will be tripped out by it or just be on their merry way. And lastly since its not live sand is there going to be more of a downside to using it, then just getting the common live sand that I can buy at a store. Thanks a bunch!

look into color quartz sand from 3m... it comes in two sizes T and S i think... i'm not sure... i haven't read up or used the stuff in a couple of years since i first started to get into rare cichlids... and it's uber cheap... you can get a 50lb bag for 30 bucks... or less depending where you get it...

plus it's made out of quartz crystals and doesn't build up gasses... i don't know about using it for say a reef tank, but with a undergravel jet setups it does great... and it's heavier than normal sand so you don't get sand storms...

there was a gigantic 300pg link on cichlid-forum but i guess it's gone... hmm... here's the manufacter's link... http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/ColorQuartz/HomePage/Products/Crystals/

good luck though... call up the people that make swiming pools... they might be able to get some...
