Welcome, I agree that you will find A LOT of info here. I has helped me and keeps helping me. Wish you had been around a few months ago, gave away a 40g and sump for helping me move my 120! A sump can be pretty simple if you are into the DIY aspect, just get a plain tank, glass, silicone, and spend some time here and on google finding a design you like. Be sure to check out the Sale forums, usually some good deals and can sometimes find equipment that you will need in the Free section... It does take time and a bit of $$ to get going. Think I'm in around 1k for the last 18 months for my 120 even though I got the tank and some of the lights for $150.... Rock adds up at $3/pound...

Yes, smaller is harder. 12 gallons is a good starter for freshwater but not saltwater. Changes in water chemistry swing harder in a smaller tank, causing more hassle and heartache.

really smaller is harder? I was talking with some people they said a 12 gallon is a good starter.
