So last night I was mounting several frags in the tank and while I was putting my Monti on a rock, I pushed a little too hard and it broke. It was only a frag to begin with and the broken piece is MAYBE 1/4" wide now, will it still develop or is the small piece useless? Also, i was using aquastik... what do you guys think of that stuff? I don't know if I wasn't using it right but it didn't seem to work out that great which is the reason I was pushing on the monti...it just didn't want to stay!! BTW I'm new to this so these were the first frags I actually mounted on my rock. thanks in advance for your info.

I had the same thing happen to me. I had a 1" purple haze frag and when i glued it to a rock i pushed it from the middle to stick and it broke in 4 pieces. each piece grew into each other and was fine.

that aquastik putty is crap. always hated it.

When using aquastick or aquamend i always do a super glue gel sandwich. So gel aquastick gel is how i use it and it works great that way.

It should be fine. A combination of super glue and epoxy works great for me.
This is the procedure how i mount frags to an existing live rock in the tank:
1. Dry surface of coral with a paper towel and apply superglue.
2. Knead a small amount of epoxy and roll it into a ball.
3. place epoxy on coral where the superglue is applied.
4. add superglue on the other side of the epoxy and place on live rock and you're done.
I suggest cleaning the area of the live rock with a tooth brush for better adhesion. This works well in or out of you tank.
